Notes of Hope

Notes of Hope

“Thank you, thank you! I’m listening from Brookline, MA. That was magnificent and healing after a long week caring for patients with COVID-19 and their families at my hospital.”

“Each time I tune in, the combination of the musical offering  itself and the applause filling the screen at the end makes my heart surge, and I feel so grateful for the creativity and warmth you all are sharing with us.”

-Kristen G.Schaefer | MD
Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute

Conceptualized by Gloria Chien, Notes of Hope was Boston Musicians’ response to the nightly #clapbecausewecare salute during the pandemic. Offering daily performances streamed directly to the hospitals, these “playing it forward” musical interludes aimed to comfort, uplift, heal, thank, and cheer on our city’s heroic frontline workers.

Over the course of six weeks, over one hundred Boston musicians participated in Notes of Hope by providing performances from home that were broadcast on social media and in hospitals every evening at Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital.
