String Theory
String Theory
"String Theory has developed a reputation and artistic gravity that would be the envy of much larger cities"
-Alan Sherrod, Classical Journal
Founded in 2009 by pianist Gloria Chien, String Theory offers superb chamber music performances in an artistically inspiring setting at the Hunter Museum of American Art in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. String Theory presents the most sought-after musicians and curates exquisite programming that includes chamber music classics as well as music of our time.
Presenting intimate music in a museum setting has been a treasured tradition at prestigious institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, and the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C. These one-hour concerts with the unique synergy between music, art, and the audience has been the signature of String Theory, which has added to the vibrancy of the cultural fabric in Chattanooga.
String Theory aspires to expose new audiences to chamber music, invigorate the local classical music scene, and cultivate a future generation of music lovers.
